Wise Choice

Welcome to CROLCC, we are so glad you are here worshiping with us. One of you my favorite stories in the Bible was when God showed up in King Solomon’s dream when he first became king, and God said he could ask for anything he wanted and God would give it to him. Can you imagine God showing up in your life and ask you that very same question? What would you ask for if you were presented with the opportunity of getting anything you want? There were countless times that I would imagine myself as king Solomon, thinking, would I ask for a sports car, a beautiful wife, or an endless amount of money in my retirement account?

It is till amazing to me what King Solomon asked for that day – wisdom to do the job he was given as a king. How did he come up with that answer? I have thought about that for a long time and I believe the reason he came up with it was because of who he was as a person. He understood he was given a role in life, and he didn’t ask to be removed from that responsibility. He simply asked for wisdom so that he could fulfill his given responsibility as a king.

Moving Forward

You and I are given a role to play in this world. Would you ask God to give you wisdom in fulfilling the responsibility of that role today?

Changing Your Mind

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Discussion Questions

1. One of the most common questions we were asked as a child was “who do you want to be when you grow up?” Do you remember how you answered that question? Are you doing that now? Why or why not?

2. Read Proverbs 3:5-6. Have you ever asked God to give you wisdom to do something you didn’t think you could do? What was that experience like for you?

3. Do you feel like you are where you want to be currently as a person, as an employee, as a son, as a daughter, or whatever role you think you are playing currently? Why or why not?

4. Is there something God is challenging you do but you have been afraid to take that next step? What can you do today to overcome that fear and take that step? How can this group support you?
